Definition of a Wholesaler: Anyone or any organization that buys or offers to buy pharmaceuticals for resale and distribution to corporations, individuals, or entities other than the consumer.
 
STANDARDS FOR PHARMACEUTICAL WHOLESALER
 
Quality Assurance
Standard 1:There are mechanisms in place to assure the quality of pharmaceutical distribution.
  This Standard contains 18 required elements.
Product Management
Standard 2:The facility is organized and functions to assure drug integrity.
  This Standard contains 20 required elements.
Product Security
Standard 3:The facility and processes are organized and functions to assure drug safety.
  This Standard contains 15 required elements.
Information Management
Standard 4:Information systems are secure.
  This Standard contains 10 required elements.
Accreditation process includes: document review, personnel records review, inspection of the facility, observation of processes, and staff interviews.
